Description:
The Core Cool Down system afely lowers the body temperature of a firefighter exposed to high heat conditions or exhaustive physical activity in just 15 minutes. The station sets up quickly and can be fully operational in just a few minutes. The system also allows for full mobility while cooling.
Purpose:
To safely and quickly lower the core body temperature of a fire fighter exposed to areas of intense heat for extended periods of time. This exposure causes the body temperature to rise and create a condition of hypothermia (elevated core body temperature).
Definition:
Body core temperature: The normal core body temperature of a healthy, resting adult human being is stated to be at 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit or 37.0 degrees Celsius.
Responsibility:
Incident Commander (or designate): The incident commander (or his/her designate) will be responsible for conducting all rehabilitation evolutions on the fire ground.
